This is the cover of my latest book. It is written specifically for laity in an effort to include you in the kind of theological conversations scholars and clergy have all the time.
What if Jesus didn’t die for the sins of the world? Do Christians have to be believe Jesus is the only way to be Christian? Has Christian triumphalism that insists our faith is the only true faith undermined the credibility of the gospel message? Is the belief that salvation comes through the cross the reason many Christians try to get along with members of other faiths, but cannot bring themselves to believe other religions may be as valid as theirs?
These are the questions I seek to answer in this book that has been in the making for three years. There are Endnotes that expand on points for those who want to explore the issues I raise in more detail, but the main text is intentionally written in a way to make the issues accessible without getting you bogged down in theological arguments.
The primary theme of the book is that Christianity has its origins, not at the foot of the cross, but at the door of an empty tomb, and focusing on the latter is how you as a Christian can free yourself from feeling like you are not a true Christian for questioning many of the things the church teaches.
I have loved writing this book, and believe you will enjoy reading it. I also think it is the kind of book made for small group discussions.

Congratulations, Jan, on the culmination of your heartfelt and informed work. All efforts to enlighten minds toward temporal brotherhood by highlighting the spiritually inclusive messages of the Christ’s teachings and life are urgently needed. Your book will definitely quench the thirst of the many ready to see and hear. Best wishes!
Many thanks, Bob. We’ll see what happens with it.
Just for everyone’s information: It looks as if it takes a day or so for Amazon to get it up in their site. Everything is done on this end so it’s a matter of waiting for Amazon to post it. Should be in a day or so.
Thanks for your work! I’m eager to read it.
