A candid message to faux President Donald Trump (and to all MAGA Republicans):
I am writing even though I know you don’t consider people like me your constituents. You call us “left-wing radical nuts,” which translated means people who don’t agree with you.
We don’t, of course, agree with you on anything of substance, but more than that, we don’t consider you the legitimate President of the United States, and we never will.
Instead, you represent a perversion of what America is.
America is a welcoming land to people yearning to be free, a land of economic opportunity, a land practicing justice even if imperfectly, a land of laws, a land whose people want to be responsible stewards of the planet, a land whose people are diverse, resilient, and freedom loving, a land whose people believe in being good neighbors, in common decency and in the common good, a land whose people are proud to be the oldest continuing democracy in the world.
You show no sign of knowing anything about the people we truly are whose interests you are supposed to serve. How can you when you value loyalty to yourself over loyalty to the values that have sustained our country for almost 250 years?
You are the stereotypical ugly American to the rest of the world, childishly arrogant, unprincipled, and oblivious to how transparently weak and shockingly ignorant you are regarding things that matter.
You believe you are America’s greatest president when in fact you will go down in history as its worst. You have never sufficiently matured as an adult to understand that someone who spends all his time telling others how great he is will never be seen that way, or that a leader who tries to rewrite the past can never shape the future.
For the first time in our history you have made a majority of us ashamed that as the nation’s president you are the face of our country to the world. Your combined incompetence and narcissism make you an embarrassment in defining America’s role in world affairs.
You speak like a child, act like a child, and reason like a child, and you have never put away childish things, nor will you ever. You make yourself look mentally and emotionally smaller every day of your presidency.
I consider it both sad and necessary to say that I don’t have an ounce of respect for you as a person. I respect the office you hold, which is precisely why I have no respect for you. Every time you open your mouth you prove that the presidency is too big for someone who is as small a person as you are.
Your Truth Social posts are a particular case in point. You write like a juvenile, spoiled bully who hides behind the office you hold in striking out at everyone who is smarter, more competent, and more mature than you will ever be.
You have yet to learn that respect is not something demanded from others, nor is admiration commanded or the abuse of power a display of courage.
You would be a pathetic figure, even tragic, if you weren’t so arrogant in self-praise and so immature in the denigrating of others.
That you were elected twice to the presidency is a story our country can never fully explain. But we will survive you, and once you’re gone we will do whatever it takes to erase as much evidence possible that you were ever president.
You have committed the unpardonable sin of breaking covenant with the American people by betraying your presidential oath of office. That will be the story historians tell about your presidency.
When they do, all Americans, and, indeed, the whole world, will learn the sordid details of just how corrupt and principled-less you were when you occupied the Oval Office. They will know beyond any doubt that you never lived up to the high standard and unique responsibilities being the President of the United States entailed.
And once they do every preposterous wish you had of being awarded a Noble Peace Prize or becoming a genuine Kennedy Center Honoree or being the greatest president ever will be seen for the joke it always was.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Jan,
“Truth to power!”
Gene
Thanks, Gene.
Nailed it.
