Did you hear the news? President Biden and Kamala Harris said Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election because of voter fraud!
Of course, you didn’t because they didn’t say it, nor has any other Democrat. That’s because Democrats believe in Democracy and believe making false claims about election integrity hurts the nation.
But not Republicans.
We all know that had Donald Trump lost, he would be making outrageous and false claims about a rigged election, about voter fraud, and would have filed law suits in every battle ground state.
He was doing it before the election , writing on Truth Social that there was “a lot of talk about massive cheating” in Pennsylvania.
Today, though, his silence is deafening. Not a word about fraud. Not one!
Yet, Trump’s margin of victory was smaller than Biden’s victory over him. Biden defeated him by 7 million votes. He defeated Harris by 3 million votes. The Electoral College vote is virtually the same – Biden 306; Trump 312.
So Trump’s defeat in 2020 was much more decisive than his win this year, but he is totally silent about voter fraud this year, which reveals something so ironic that it is almost funny.
Donald Trump’s election win this year proves his BIG Lie about the 2020 election was in fact a BIG LIE.
He’s been lying for four years, intentionally trying to undermine confidence in the integrity of our elections, the first and only former president ever to do such a thing.
We’ve heard it so much that it’s easy not to think about what a huge, corrupting impact the BIG LIE has had on our nation.
For one thing, it’s the reason Trump will be president again.
Without the BIG LIE, it is very unlikely Trump would have stayed in politics except that it was the only way he could see for avoiding going to jail. But acknowledging defeat in 2020 would have diminished his grip on the Republican Party. As it was, the narrative that he won and the victory was taken from him fraudulently maintained his position of power, especially his capacity to do fund raising.
In addition, the BIG LIE was the sole cause of the January 6, 2021, insurrection. Without it, the insurrection would have never happened.
With his election, he will try to erase the stain of the insurrection on his political place in history by pardoning those involved who have been convicted by telling another lie, that they were patriots trying to protect the country they actually betrayed.
His BIG LIE was also the propaganda Republican state legislators used to justify the voter suppression laws they passed to keep minorities from voting this year (which may turn out to have actually happened).
And the BIG LIE was the reason a majority of Republicans never accepted Joe Biden as President.
But the BIG LIE was never anything other than a BIG LIE, and his stunning silence about fraud in this year’s election proves it.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that he proved himself to be the liar he is about the BIG LIE because he spent four years in the White House telling one lie after another, a total of 30,573 according to the Washington Post fact checking team. (They can tell you what they were if you want to know.)
And he kept at it this year. The week before the November election he made campaign stops in Scranton and Reading Pennsylvania and made another 40 false claims (in other words, “lies”), according to CNN (they can also tell you what they were if you want to know).
Now that he’s won, he’s even lying about the size of his victory the way he lied about the size of his first inauguration crowd, claiming a mandate from the voters he didn’t get, as the facts above clearly show.
In short, Trump’s silence about voter fraud because he won this year not only proves the BIG Lie was a BIG LIE, it reminds us that Trump will continue to be a man who lies about everything because he has no moral commitment whatsoever to telling the truth.
This is why his presidency was a disaster the first time, and will be again. A man who lies creates confusion, consternation, and chaos because that is always the impact of telling lies, of being the kind of person no one can trust.
This means Trump voters are either like Trump or they have convinced themselves he will be different this time as president. Even some non-Trumpers are suggesting the same thing, insisting that it’s time to try to get along better, to work with Trump and MAGA Republicans to unite America.
But that ignores the fact that leopards don’t change their spots and Donald Trump is who he is and cannot and will not change.
It actually borders on being irrational to suppose Trump will care about anything or anyone but himself, that he wants to help working class families, cares about their healthcare, cares about women’s rights, cares about racial, economic, and social injustice, cares about securing our borders or our nation’s national security, or that he will strive to be a president for all Americans.
In point of fact, if the definition of insanity is doing the same thing the same way you’ve always done them and expecting different results, then the election of Trump again meets the definition of political insanity.
But here we are, with a newly elected president who has already tried once to overthrow our government, who said during the campaign he should have never left office when he did, hinting at what his plans are for the future, and who by any moral standard is simply an awful man.
Nothing can change that fact, as telling the BIG LIE that is a BIG LIE for four years should remind all of us.
But he’s already proving that who he is will dominate his presidency as it did before. Yesterday he raised his middle finger to every American who believes in the rule of law by nominating the moral degenerate Matt Gaetz to be Attorney General.
He did the same thing in nominating Telsi Gabbard who knows nothing about national security as the Director of National Intelligence, as big a joke as Gaetz’s nomination is.
So, too, in nominating insurrectionist sympathizer Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense whose only qualification is that he is a weekend Fix News talk show host.
What we are seeing again is what it’s going to be like with Trump being Trump as president.
A liar is a liar all the time. A narcissist is a narcissist all the time. A selfish person is selfish all the time. An incompetent person is incompetent all the time. Why? Because that is who they are.
Trump not insisting there was voter fraud this year after he won the election is all the proof the nation needs to know that his BIG LIE was always a BIG LIE.
That’s who will once again occupy the Oval Office in January. Tragically, the majority of the people who voted got what they wanted.
But I’m betting it will not take before they (and certainly the rest of us) will begin to realize that they don’t want what they got, Trump 2.0, liar and all that goes with it.

We know Trump’s cabinet will be powerless because the big liar doesn’t share the spotlight, so it’s not bad that a bunch of political opportunists are being shuttled there. Congress might become healthier. And if things go as badly as we fear, his cabinet members will not have a political future. When his policies cause inflation and the immigration problem gets worse, we’ll see Trump’s popularity in the 20s.
I hope, and, indeed, want to believe you’re right, but these days I’m nor sure anymore about how the American public will respond. There’s also the damage these people can do in the meantime. Thanks for the comment.
Trump
s actions will have negative consequences…. I guarantee it.
*Trump’s actions*
Can’t be any other way., Rollie.
Sure will test the foundations of this country cause is going to be total chaos with absolute incompetence in leadership. I agree that most people have no idea what they really voted for.
Chaos. It’s already happening with the announcements of his cabinet picks. He believes it gives him more power, which is all he wants.
sorry to have to break it to you Jan, the MAGA Republicans won’t learn one single thing after Trump 2.0. Lies will do that to a willfully ignorant person.
I agree with you, David. My hope is that the Democrats and independents who didn’t vote at all and, thus, elected Trump, will open their eyes to the truth about the kind of man he is and realize sitting on the sidelines is to throw in with him.
it is amazing that the “shinning light on the hill” has elected a felon and sexual abuser as President, who selected clowns for the clown show, it is a good thing that John Gotti is dead. We should never forget the Maggaots who did this to our country
Nor will we!
