There are many reasons to be disillusioned with our political system.
But since it’s the one we have, choosing between the players is about the best we can do.
That said, I just cannot figure out why anyone would choose to be a Republican.
I say this because so far as I can tell here are the things Republicans are for:
Lower taxes that favor the rich.
More oil drilling even though we are drilling more than we ever have.
Less government, except when they need more of it for something like disaster relief.
Making choices for women about what they should do with their bodies.
Restricting voting hours, days, and registrations because of non-existent voter fraud.
A healthcare system based on profit.
Going to war at the drop of a hat.
Making the Bible equal to science textbooks.
More and more guns, including giving them to kids.
And here are things they are against:
Everything President Obama tries to do, whether it is good or not.
The role of government in people’s lives except when it comes to women and
homosexuals.
Teaching evolution in schools.
Birth control.
Basing public policies on real scientific research.
Efforts to limit carbon emissions
Helping the working poor.
Common sense gun regulations.
Using diplomacy to avert war.
Todd Wildmon, a Fix News business commentator, recently told the Daily Show’s Aasif Mandvi that the answer to poor people gaining access to good healthcare in places like Knoxville, TN is to stop being poor.
Really?
I had a friend who now thinks this way. He is convinced that social programs and government regulations are forms of socialism that is the worst evil in the world even though all our European allies practice it.
Once again. Really?
As I said, I just cannot figure out why anyone would choose to be a Republican.
I’m just saying.
That piece on the Daily Show was incredible. It not for Fix News, there would be no Daily Show… Bozos.
I’ve been trying to come up with an answer to this same question for some time now and have not produced even the slightest glimmer of an answer. Maybe someone will post a comment to this with an answer. There must be one somewhere, because there are lots of people that seem to think like this. (And unfortunately, many of them seem to be in legislative bodies!)
You are absolutely right. That’s why I’m a life-long Democrat. Yeah.
